Active Insulin:

Active Insulin:
It is a feature of an insulin pump that is used for bolus insulin (See: Bolus Insulin). In insulin pumps, one can program the amount of insulin that needs to be released by the pump. With respect to the amount of carbohydrates consumed and the target blood sugar, one can choose the units of insulin. In most cases, the previous bolus already has some units of insulin left. So, the amount of insulin needed is actually the insulin needed minus the existing units of insulin previously present. This insulin present from the previous bolus is active bolus. By using the feature of active insulin, one can change the bolus recommendations.
