In medical terminology, anterior means the front portion of an organ or a part of the body. This is the opposite of the term posterior. This term is used to describe the human anatomy and to describe an injury or a medical condition. This term is used to describe the location of a body part. Anterior is the front of a body part. For example, the palm of the hand is the anterior part of our hand as is the face of a person whereas the posterior refers to the back of the body like the sole of the feet or the back of a person.
