Bone Marrow:
Bone marrow is spongy, flexible, soft, and gelatinous tissue that is present inside of the bones. It is present in the hip, thigh and other bones and contain lots of blood vessels and capillaries. Bone marrow occurs in red and yellow. The red bone marrow is called myeloid tissue and are present in flat bones like the sternum, pelvis, cranium, and vertebrae. The yellow bone marrow is called fatty tissue. Bone marrow generates red blood cells, white blood cells, lymphocytes, platelets, stem cells, cartilage and bone and many more. Apart from these, the major function of the bone marrow is hematopoiesis (production of all red blood cells). Bone marrow disorders include aplastic anemia, Gaucher disease, leukemia, lymphoma, multiple myeloma, and other blood-related diseases. Treatments for these diseases depend upon the severity of the condition and include blood transfusion and bone marrow transplant.
