Bioidentical Hormones:

Bioidentical Hormones:

Bioidentical hormones are chemically synthesized hormones that are used in hormone therapies and hormone replacement therapies. The therapy is called bioidentical hormonal therapy or natural hormone therapy. Bioidentical hormones have the same molecular structure as that of the natural hormones that are made in the body, but they are chemically synthesized. They can be bioidentical estrogen, bioidentical progesterone, combined hormones, testosterone, and dehydroepiandrosterone. These are generally used to relieve symptoms of menopause, reduction of the risk of osteoporosis, and sometimes as an anti-aging quick fix. However, the usage of bioidentical hormones and their benefits are yet to be completely assessed as many societies including The Endocrine Society, American Association of Clinical Endocrinologists, and the American Medical Council have expressed their doubts because of the lack of evidence. Moreover, they might also have potential adverse effects.
