Amylin:

Amylin is another hormone secreted by the pancreas. It is also called the islet amyloid polypeptide. It is secreted by the beta cells in the pancreas in the islets of Langerhans. The function of Amylin is to regulate the digestion of food and to regulate postprandial blood sugar levels. Amylin contributes in the glycemic control and is a partner of insulin. It is secreted along with insulin and slows the presence of glucose in the bloodstream post meals. This is done by slowing down gastric emptying, reduction of gastric enzymes, and bile. Amylin also acts in bone metabolism and blocks glucagon. It enhances the feeling of satiation.
