Adipose Tissue:

Adipose Tissue:
It is body fat and a loose connective tissue consisting of cells called adipocytes apart from other others. Adipose tissue performs multiple functions. They store energy as lipids and act as a cushion to internal organs. They also act as insulators to the body and act as an endocrine organ secreting hormones like estrogen, leptin, resistin and others. Adipose tissue comes in white and brown colors. The presence of excess adipose tissue in the abdominal area in the form of visceral fat is the leading cause for obesity, cardiovascular diseases, cancer, and type 2 diabetes. It is a leading cause for metabolic syndrome.
