Added Sugars:

Sugar occurs naturally in foods, but certain sugars are added to increase the taste and the flavor of the food. These include calorie sweeteners. These have no nutritional value and are called empty calories. Added sugars are found in soft drinks, baked foods like cakes, cookies, pies, and biscuits, candy, fruit drinks, ice creams, flavored milk, and other dairy products. They are added during processing the foods. Added sugars generally used are beet sugar, cane sugar, brown sugar, corn sweeteners, corn syrup, crystalline fructose, fruit juice concentrates, high-fructose corn syrup, lactose, molasses, dextrose, Turbinado sugar and sucrose. Excess consumption of added sugar leads to bad diabetes control and an elevated risk of cardiovascular diseases.
