Prostatitis is the inflammation of the prostate glands. Located between the penis and the bladder, the prostate glands get inflamed due to various reasons. Sometimes, it might be due to asymptomatic reasons. Other times, it might be due to infections. Inflammation of the prostate glands due to an infection occurs due to bacterial infections. This is called bacterial prostatitis. Bacterial prostatitis is of two types acute and chronic. Bacteria such as E.coli, Pseudomonas aeruginosa, and Klebsiella pneumonia are known to cause most cases of bacterial prostatitis. Some of the cases of bacterial prostatitis are sexually transmitted.
